Title: Current and future gravitational-wave observations to explore models of quantum black holes and cosmology
Abstract:
In the first part of the talk, I will discuss the potential of using ringdown signals from merging stellar-mass black holes observed by LIGO-Virgo detectors to look for potential signatures of the quantum nature of the black hole area. In the second part, I will discuss how to exploit gravitational-wave standard sirens that will be detected by the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna to constrain cosmological parameters, notably the Hubble constant. I will focus on a class of dark sirens, called extreme mass-ratio inspirals, touching as well on the possibility of a joint analysis with massive black hole binaries used as bright sirens.
