Title: Effective Field Theory for Higgs and Top Physics
Abstract:
While the Higgs and top phenomenology programme is well underway, direct signs for new physics beyond the Standard Model remain elusive. In this talk, I will highlight different avenues to improve our understanding of the Higgs and top sectors in the future by means of effective field theory. I will show how machine learning techniques can lead to robust constraints on new Higgs interactions in the light of expected uncertainties and competing Higgs coupling modifications. I will also touch on the phenomenological prospects of constraining CP-violating Higgs interactions at the LHC. Turning attention to the top quark sector, I will show that modifications of the top quark's interactions can be telltale signs for a range of new physics scenarios.
